(Nice Dream)

This seems to be what always happens, with my brain. My big squishy brain can't hold onto things very well, for some reason. I wish so badly I could remember my dreams, but I rarely do. Damn.

Treefingers

Well, I did it. I busted out my sharpies and made an awful picture! It was so nice to draw again, even though the end result is something you'd be embarrassed of if your 6 year old brought home from art class. All I know is that's been too long since I've had paint/marker/glue/anything fun all over my hands. That's the joy of Sharpies; every time you use a few colours, no matter how careful you are, when you put the cap on the one you were just using, you always get a dot on one of your fingers. This leads to a wonderful little rainbow on your fingers. It's a reminder of what I used to be able to do. I think I can get back into this again. I've been trying/failing for a little while, but today I actually just sat down and enjoyed making something shitty. That's all I've wanted for ages.

Knives Out.

That's right universe, it's on. There are always setbacks, but not this time. This time, I get to be the one in rainbows. Try and stop me.

Exit Music for a Film.

Well, looks like we'll be heading back a little earlier than planned. We found out that the flights we were supposed to be taking from Frankfurt to Montreal are overbooked, and as standbye passengers, that means a big F U, love Air Canada. I'm not mad though, it's been a fun trip! Didn't do all the touristy things we had planned, but it was just so nice to hang out with Markus and Kyle and just have fun. Think we'll be back around 4:00pm Friday, so if anyone wants to hang out, let me know! Sleep is for babies.

Everything in its Right Place.

It was insane. My mind has been blown. They put on one hell of a show.

More to come.

7 Hours.

So, 7 hours to Radiohead! Not going to lie, I'm getting very excited!

Yesterday, we woke up, Markus had taken off for school, and Kyle and I had some weiner sandwiches for breakfast... Markus has no food right now... Kyle and I just hung out in Berlin, walkin aronud, looking for gifts, etc. Found a bunch of really cool places/shops/bulidings. There's this little man that they use on their WALK/DON'T WALK signs that apparentally is like some sort of icon, and there's a billion little trinkets with him on it. Werid. Kyle and I found a shop called the "XL-XXXXXXXXXL". Didn't go in, but we made a few pretty safe assumptions as to what it was. We went to the Apocolypse Machine (radio tower) in the middle of Alexander Platz, and walked around there a little bit. We didn't go up, because Markus wanted to as well, and the dink was at school, so no dice. Found a Starbucks! It's completly and utterly the same as the ones back home. Down to a tee. Like, same paintings, same giftware, same uniforms, drinks, snacks, everything. It was nostalgic. So after walking around a little more, we decided to grab some food and head back to Markus' place. Kyle fel asleep pretty quick, so It was just me playing on the computer for a while. Hence this cool new blog layout! Markus got home, and we went looking for fun. We found this huge huge mall (there's a picture on faceobook of Kyle and Markus that looks like they were just caught holding hands, that's in front of the mall) that had about every kind of store imaginable in it... if all you can imagine is cell phones and cloths. There was also a huge (Dale, this is your nirvanna) 3 storey electronics store, like a super super Futureshop. We decided not to go in though, because i'm about 150€ from the sleeping on the curb. We did find a cool Irish Pub after that, under one of the train stations, and sat down for a few drinks. Our waitress was a legit Irish girl, which is more than a little odd. She spoke much better english than German (hopefully, comming from an english speaking country), so it was refreshing. Got home, had a couple beer, and that was that. Not a super busy day, but we all decided that we need to get some energy saved up for tonight, because you know what's happening tonight! (Radiohead)

Oh! Cool thing, our tickets for Radiohead give us free access to all Berlin Public Transit until 3am tomorrow! Not too shabby! That's how you know this is going to be a sweet concert.

Reckoning.

Need I say more?

Blue is the New Green.

I had a stint where I wasn't doing anything today, and despite all the setbacks from a German keyboard, and German internet explorer, I managed to change my blog's layout. I like this one better. It's also no longer called "The Red Basin", which is due to the fact that I totally stopped writing that thing a while ago. It's now lovingly refered to as "Craig A Bailey Presents:". And FINALLY, change your homepages from "http://theredbasin.blogspot.com" to the much classier "http://craigabaileypresents.blogspot.com". There, now you have something to do on a Monday night! You owe me.

Transit.

Well, I finally have been able to get a bit of sleep after all the traveling. Not a lot, mind you, but some! Where to begin!

We left Winnipeg on the morning of the 5th, 11:30. Kyle and I snagged first class seats from Winnipeg on Montreal, which were terrific! We basically got free meals (kyle got the salmon, and I took the cheese plate) that re-defined airplane food, and unlimited wine, beer or hard alchohol. Needless to say, we avoided too much of that, seeing that it was only noon! First class seats on the first plane were the ones that you always see when you normally walk back to economy: big chairs, lots of leg room. It was terrific.
When we landed in Montreal, we had about 6 hours to kill, so we checked our bag at the bag check, and grabbed a limo (the small ones, not stretch) to downtown to have a bite to eat. There was a long line for cabs, and it was only a little bit more, so no big deal. Our driver was this insane old man who told us pretty much his life story, which, as it turned out, involved a LOT of sex. He told us he once "had", when he was serving overseas, a beautiful young girl, then her mother, then her grandmother. Quite the story. He also told us where to find the best $40 handjobs in Montreal. Yeehaw. When we got downtown, it turns out that a bunch of the streets were closed for (forgive my lack of proper terminology) a "Black Person Festiva". We got dropped off and wndered around for a while. There was all kinds of music, and the whole downtown was barracaded off, so you could just walk anywhere. Found out a little ways in that I had left my phone in the cab, so that put me off a a little bit, but we found a place to grab a drink and just sat and enjoyed the day. It was a lot of fun. Hitched a cab back to the airport, went to get our bags, and amazingly, the limo driver had dropped my phone off at the bag check (which it turns out was luckily the lost and found as well). So, that improved my mood a lot! We still had about an hour before the next flight, so we grabbed some food at some airport resturaunt.
Our flight from Montreal to Frankfurt was amazing. We got first class again, and man it blew my mind! It was a huge new plane, and the first class was rediculous! You had a private little boothish seat, with your own huge tv, unlimited drinks of any kind you can imagine, and delicious meals and snacks! I had the asapargus and goat cheest apetizer, and the bbq chicken for my main course. That's right, there were courses! The chairs had massage features, and folded down into beds! We also got little care packages, with things like sleep masks, ear plugs, tooth brushes, lotions lip balm, and SLIPPERS! There was also mood lightening in the cabing that sort of mimiced (?) the outside lights. It goes without saying, but that was the best flight I think I will ever be on. Amazing.
We got to Frankfurt, cleared customs, and went to grab a train to Berlin, after figuring out where we were, and swapping our money for euros. Grabbed a long distance train pass that'll get us to Berlin and back on the 12th. Turns out that we had both sorely misjudged the cost of a train pass, and ever with the savings of a round trip, it was still about $500. So, going into this with a LOT less spending money than I had planned, but oh well! The train ride was about 5 hours, but we made it! We got to Berlin main station at about 3pm Germany time (so... 9am Sunday, i guess?)
We met up with Markus, and went back to his place to unload our bags. Turns out that he lives in the Osbourne of Berlin! It's amazing! It's literally a 10 minute walk from everything! After we had cooled off a bit, we went for a walk and got a couple bottles of wine, then grabbed some pizza. After that, we went down to the riverfront, found a bench, and drank the wine. Saw a lot of birds flying around, and lots of boats were scooting around. I didn't take any pictures, but I will starting today. I didn't feel like carrying it around. After the wine, we went back to Markus', then just went for a walk around. That night, we bought a box of beer (20 half liter bottles for $40, insane!) and just went and hung around 'the square' all night. Met a few nice people, and a few crazies. Basically drank, sat and just had a fun night. Now it's 9am here the next morning, and I can't sleep anymore. My body says "no! it's 2am! you still have some time to do fun stuff!" It's a dope.
Markus has to be in school all day today, so Kyle and I are going to just find our own fun. Aside from not speaking German, it should be easy enough!
Radiohead tomorrow! It's an outdoor concert, so I hope we have some good weather. Even if we don't, it should be religious.

If I remember anything fun that I forgot, I'll put it in later!

PS: I've only seen 2 other American Apparel hoodies here so far! Hooray!
